The Impact of COVID-19 on Canadian Immigration

On July 24th 2020, The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Marco Mendicino met with all the provincial/territorial ministerial colleagues from Canada to discuss the challenges immigration has been facing and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ministers confirmed immigration is key to support the recovery of the country. Therefore, they are pushing forward to a strong immigration system, more than ever.

It is interesting to see how Canada has continued to receive immigration process applications as much as possible even with this global pandemic. To me this fully translates in a country that is truly committed to immigration and that is betting on immigration to contribute as a key variable in the recovery of the economy which has been hit by COVID-19.

It is also worth to mention that Canada has been recognized as one of the countries that has managed best the pandemic, keeping the numbers under control, health system available as well as implementation of measures paced based on data. This is just a confirmation that Canada is definitely one of the best countries to live in the world as has been recognized as well in several occasions.
